What are Rhodipor Ecobuild Insulated Concrete Forms?

Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) are Expanded Polystyrene Panels (EPS) that are stacked into the shape of the exterior walls of a building and then filled with concrete. This modern method of construction in place of traditional brick and blockwork provides you with greater thermal efficiency, combined with concrete to ensure you are provided with a superior structural building.

Is ICF a new Modern Method of Construction (MMC)?

Rhodipor Ecobuild has been in use since the early 1980s and is a German established manufacturer. Rhodipor has been used to construct houses all over the world from the hottest to the coldest climates. Linton DMC provides you with Rhodipor Ecobuild because we want to to reduce your construction time and promote sustainability, without compromising on quality.

Can I get planning acceptance, mortgage and insurance on an ICF property?

Rhodipor Ecobuild ICF structures are accepted by all reputable companies and organisations, all third-party tests and standards have been met. In fact, when building a new home some lenders will reduce the lender's rate if the house achieves greater energy efficiency.

Do we need to engage a specialist Architect to design our property?

The design process is actually easier than that of a brick built property because there are fewer components involved. Here at Linton DMC, we specialise in architecture and design, we are happy to support and guide you through the process.

Why doesn't Linton DMC supply ICF only?

Linton DMC is proud to supply and fit Rhodipor Ecobuld, although ICF looks as simple as Lego to construct, we have a good working knowledge of how the system works. We are a specialist team who are all experienced ICF builders, our goal is to bring your ideas to life and do so with excellence.

How cost effective is building an ICF property?

Whilst ICF may cost slightly more at the outset, the cost to you to heat or cool your property over the life of the building is less. The robust and superior material does not decay and offers you the occupant, extremely high degrees of wind, fire, insect and impact resistance. In addition, the time you save during the construction makes ICF highly cost-effective, and the build can take place in most weather conditions.

How can an ICF property save me money on my energy bills?

Your home will have a dense concrete core with layers of insulation meaning there is a thermal mass benefit. Your property will remain warm in the winter and cool in the summer. ICF structure offers low 'U' Values from 0.30W/m²K down to 0.10W/m²K.

How do I fix plasterboard or other finishes to an ICF property?

Traditional methods of fixing plasterboards can be used no need for alternation. For heavier items affixed to walls that a plaster screw cannot accommodate, we recommend fixing through the polystyrene into the concrete.

Most conditions allow for the concrete to be poured, however, if there is predicted frost this is the only weather condition that we advise against conducting your concrete pour.

ICF built properties offer you floor space without further loadbearing walls, you can easily remodel and change your floor layouts in the future. In fact, the strength of the ICF walls allows extra floors to be added (subject to approval) and it is easy to include future extensions.
